No competition here: around 1,500 companies in Lower Saxony are working together to promote family friendliness and equality. They are partners of the 25 Women and Business Coordination Offices across the state, which are committed to increasing women's participation in the workforce and improving the compatibility of family and career.
Promoting family-friendly policies for more than 20 years
In the Hanover region, the Überbetriebliche Verbund Hannover Region e.V. (ÜBV) has been committed to family-friendliness and life-stage-oriented personnel policies for over 20 years. Initiatives are being launched to provide reliable holiday care for school-age children, such as the summer camp (July 22–August 9, 2019), to relieve the burden on family caregivers (ÜBV business breakfast: April 24, 2019), and to attract female specialists and managers.
"Motivated employees meet attractive employers – this not only strengthens the economic power of the region, but also enables many people to better balance work and family life. It's a real win-win situation. Social progress and equality go hand in hand," emphasized Social Affairs Minister Dr. Carola Reimann at a meeting with the chairpersons of the associations and the heads of the co-offices in Hanover on March 11.
