Career Counseling for Immigrant Women

May 27, 2026- Have you immigrated to Germany and would like to start a career or return to work after taking time off to care for your family? Are you wondering what opportunities are available to you in your desired field? We offer guidance on (re)orienting yourself in the German job market and on training and qualification opportunities in the Hanover region, as well as support with the job application process.

We help you develop career prospects and find your professional path. We want you to find a job that matches your qualifications and suits you. To do this, we leverage our extensive network of labor market stakeholders and show you pathways into the workforce.

  • Individual and culturally sensitive counseling and coaching for career entry or career reorientation (with an interpreter if needed)
  • Analysis of your professional situation (educational and vocational qualifications, degree, work experience, professional skills) and planning of next steps
  • Overview of job, training, and continuing education opportunities in the Hannover region
  • Information on seminars and workshops for your personal development
  • Connections to companies
  • Networking with educational providers, labor market stakeholders, and other counseling centers
  • in the search for jobs and internships
  • with information on the job market and careers in Germany
  • When searching for suitable training opportunities
  • with job applications and interviews
  • in building new professional contacts
  • in connecting with other women (networking)

Immigrant women are often affected by discrimination in multiple ways: they face disadvantages due to their gender, their background, and/or their religion, which limits their participation in the workforce.

In addition to our counseling work, we therefore advocate in working groups, network meetings, and at professional events for the elimination of structural disadvantages faced by immigrants in the labor market. In cooperation with various network partners in the Hanover region, we collaborate on projects that promote the participation of migrants in the workforce.

Through informational events and workshops for immigrant women, we create programs specifically tailored to different target groups.

It is also our goal to raise awareness among small and medium-sized enterprises in the Hanover region about the potential of immigrant women, creating a win-win situation for both sides.

The focus of our work is therefore on ensuring that immigrant women pursue work that provides a living wage, matches their qualifications, and meets their expectations.

The Coordination Office for Women and Work in the Hanover Region is funded by the State of Lower Saxony and the European Union.
